LOGAN MANUFACTURER, IMAGING SOLUTIONS, RESPONDS TO GOVERNMENT CALL FOR LOCALLY MADE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

LOGAN, QLD, 13 MAY 2020 — Logan manufacturer Imaging Solutions has begun manufacturing vital personal protective equipment in response to the Queensland Government’s call for more PPE to be manufactured on home soil as part of a Queensland Government campaign #MakingitforQld.

The established Queensland company currently manufacturers both MRI RF Cages and a comprehensive range of Personal Radiation protection products as well as a range of accessories lines, and has been reviewing the range of products it imports, alongside its capacity to manufacture locally, to provide vital products to frontline service personnel and the wider community.

Imaging Solutions Managing Director and CEO Glenn Honey said his company had heeded the calls from the state and federal governments to fill the void created by the unprecedented global demand for PPE products.

“Imaging Solutions was inspired by stories of companies, both in the core medical market and other businesses, who were able to adapt and leverage pre-existing manufacturing technologies to support the COVID-19 response effort.

“Our team of 27 staff rose to the challenge to re tool, innovate and reconfigure existing manufacturing capabilities and resources to meet the demand challenge for this important cause.

“In the last week, our company has already started to transition away from some imported lines it has previously procured offshore and is now advancing rapidly with its plans to switch to local production.

Local Member for Springwood Mick de Brenni said he had recently paid a visit to the Imaging Solutions manufacturing plant, to meet the staff and talk to them about expanding their product range.

“The Queensland Government is proud to prioritise Queensland jobs and Queensland produce.

“Right now, hospitals across the country are looking to their backyard to provide their equipment like facemasks and PPE.

“We’ve never needed Queensland made products more and I’m pleased that local businesses like Imaging Solutions are rising to the challenge and ‘Making it for Queensland’.

Some of the team at Imaging Solutions manufacturing, including its production supervisor Debra McKinnon, engaged with the Minister, sharing their previous industry experience and its evolution over the last few decades.

Mr Honey welcomed the Minister’s visit and said that hearing about the Queensland Government’s #MakingitforQld had inspired him to take up the call.

“Imaging related products might not instantly spring to mind as high demand element of the COVID-19 medical offensive. However, imaging plays a key role in diagnosis and treatment behind the scenes.”

“In recent weeks we have encountered strong demands for protective radiation screens, personal protective apparel and a myriad of other imaging related accessories.

Imaging Solutions is expected to unveil its expanded locally made products range between now and year end.
