Barco Previews 10 MP ‘Fusion’ Display

RSNA Annual Meeting, Chicago, IL, USA, 29 November 2009 – At the RSNA Annual Meeting in Chicago, medical display leader Barco will showcase the latest addition to its line of ‘Fusion’ diagnostic display systems. The new display product, named Coronis Fusion 10MP, incorporates a high-bright 30-inch grayscale LCD panel which can be driven as two seamless 5 MegaPixel heads or one wide-screen 10 MegaPixel display. With this large seamless desktop, radiologists will be able to read and compare high-resolution grayscale images such as chest, bone and breast, more efficiently than ever before.

“The new Coronis Fusion 10MP is the next logical step in an ongoing evolution towards large, single-screen diagnostic display solutions that bring more flexibility and efficiency to the radiology reading room,” explains Barco’s medical Market Director Geert Carrein. “With this exciting new display solution, radiologists will benefit from the highest level of grayscale precision, in a form factor that is more user-friendly and provides the ultimate in desktop flexibility.”

With the Coronis Fusion 10MP, Barco continues the legacy of its leading Coronis products and introduces several new, unprecedented features that make the system particularly competent for grayscale diagnostic imaging. One of these innovations is a proprietary ‘SmoothGray’ technology which assures a more precise DICOM curve, thereby improving the visibility of subtle details. Furthermore, Coronis Fusion 10MP includes Barco’s proprietary Uniform Luminance Technology (ULT), which provides consistent brightness over the entire 30-inch screen surface.

This new product will inherit the ergonomic, modern and widely acclaimed design from the successful Coronis Fusion 6MP DL. Just like the 6MP, the new 10MP will come as a complete, plug and play product bundle, featuring an ultra-fast display controller and the latest version of the MediCal QAWeb solution for worry-free Quality Assurance.

Finally, Barco revealed that the new Coronis Fusion 10MP will herald a new chapter in the company’s commitment to building a green future. Therefore, special attention has been paid to the selection of non-hazardous components from audited suppliers, as well as to the product’s energy-efficiency and recyclability.

Coronis Fusion 10MP at RSNA The new Coronis Fusion 10MP will be showcased at the Barco booth (#8335) in Hall B, at this year’s RSNA Annual Meeting, from 29 November to 4 December 2009, in Chicago, USA. The product will come standard with a five-year warranty. Commercial distribution is scheduled in the course of 2010.
